Invigorate Recruitment is working with its client on the outskirts of Leeds to recruit a Marketing Planning & Insights manager to maximise the business customer file through effective planning, execution, analysis and insight.

Main Responsibilities:

  •          Planning, managing and measuring the businesses paper strategy;
  •          Managing the data assimilation and analysis process for the marketing team.
  •          Developing key insights that drive customer retention, reactivation and recruitment within allowable parameters.


  •          Develop the seasonal catalogue plan, determining the depth of mailing per drop within acceptable allowables.
  •          Accurately brief all key parties for each drop – creative studio, printer, data house, mailing house and postal service.
  •          Manage file copies and seeds
  •          Manage the paper budget.

Cold lists

  •          Developing the seasonal plan for cold lists, working with various providers.
  •          Optimising spend to recruit new customers at the right contribution levels.
  •          Ensuring that data is received on time and briefed effectively.


  •          Managing the insert programme, working with an external agency to build the plans based on previous results and new tests.
  •          Optimising spend to recruit new customers at the right contribution levels.
  •          Working with the printer and media House to manage deadlines and deliver the correct versions into the publications.

Customer Database

  •          Managing the customer database with the objective of maximising the house file size.
  •          Using data analytics to help identify ways of improving

o   Retention

o   Reactivation

o   Recruitment

  •          Looking for ways to maximise opt ins to both paper and online marketing



  •          Working with the Marketing Director and the Head of Ecommerce to create and utilise accurate and up to the minute measurement tools.
  •          Communicating results succinctly to the business at specified times – including (but not exclusively) the weekly update (online and offline), the monthly marketing report and the end of season wrap up.
  •          Create ad-hoc marketing reports as and when required.
  •          Use results to identify opportunities and help create strategies to maximise them.
  •          To work with the team to devise and execute remedial strategies if we fall behind target.



  •          Work with the Marketing Director, Head of Ecommerce  and Finance Director to produce the annual online and offline budgets for the business.
  •          Ensure these budgets are adhered to throughout the season.


Technical Knowledge:

  •             A solid understanding of all marketing channels – both on and offline
  •             In-depth knowledge of the marketing planning process
  •             A good grasp of customer database methodology and application
  •             Strong numerical and analytical skills – with emphasis on results measurement and response forecasting to contribution level
  •             Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with senior managers
  •             Able to fully utilise the relevant IT support systems, and to be conversant with standard   business desktop applications, especially Excel.
  •             A good understanding of print processes and ability to manage relevant suppliers
  •             A good understanding of the UK postal system
